Overview

This truly delightful weekend breakaway has a very easy and relaxing itinerary in France. The tour is based in Normandy, which is ideal for our programme of sightseeing excursions.

Accommodation for the weekend is reserved in good standard hotels, in the Rouen area of Normandy. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and have en-suite private bathroom. Founded by the Romans, Rouen is the capital of Upper Normandy. The ‘Old Town’, lying on the right bank of the Seine, bristles with spires and bell towers. Caen, the capital of Lower Normandy, was the home of William the Conquerer. Caen today is an attractive town, with beautiful abbeys and churches, and houses built with mellow Caen stone.
There are many fine restaurants and bistros throughout Normandy, and dining out is not expensive. The local specialities are seafood, fish, lamb and poultry. Many dishes are cooked ‘A la Normande’, with a delicious cream sauce.
